At boot my system counts the RAM over and over, until I hit Esc. Started this ever since I reloaded. Why is this and what can I do. Is this an adjustment in the BIOS?

You can disable the memory test in your BIOS. Usually you just enter setup (follow on screen instructions during bootup) and look for something in your BIOS that refers to "fast start up" or "Skip memory test" etc.

Sometimes the repeat testing of your memory can indicate cheap memory or defective memory.
