hello
we recently installed rack poweredge 2850's with 2 gig mem
each
we also just decided to finally upgr our old portfolio mgmt software to a version that runs off sql server
we have a small environment (32 users)
less than half of the users will actually be using the software. do i have enough memory for sql + new app?
the apps which exist on our "app" server don't place a heavy load on it

You'll have to monitor the system and find out. The amount of memory you need is based on more than just the number of users. You also need to take into account the size of the data, and the number of transactions per minute.

Thx for replying
Our portfolio mgmt software is dos based - we are moving to a windows based version (which runs atop sql)
This app is not really heavily used - it's hard to say if in the new version it would become processor intensive since for now, the dos version allows one user at a time for transactions. However, the total DB is just about 1/2 Gig. Again, how it will increase in the structure of the new version - i can't say.
but our server has 2 Gig of physical memory with no real demands on it
