Memo fields in Access Cut Short in SQL Server

I am importing from Access to SQL Server 2000.

I am doing the import via a Coldfusion script, because the client does not want to mess with Enterprise Manager or anything like that, and I don't have access to anything on their systems.

I have a bunch of fields that are quite large, not a few that top 20,000 characters.

The problem is that they are getting cut off. I only get 500 characters. The source field is memo, the destination is text. Can someone help me figure this out???

this will enable you to store more data in text column
