I have two Exch2000 servers sat on different subnets on different sites in the same Administrative Group.

The Bridgehead server is working fine, the member server however has suddenly developed a fault after working flawlessly for months.

Mail can be sent to the member server from external or internal sources and mail between receipients who have mailboxes mounted on the member server can also communicate.

However, all mail sent from the member server to the bridgehead server or to the external SMTP connector just sits in the SMTP queues. Both the queues are shoiwn as constantly active.

The only way to flush the queue is to reboot the server. I've looked through all the threads here and can't find anything that works - not even restarting smtp.

The only thing that's changed recently is that I brought a third server online on the same subnet as the bridgehead server. However, I've removed Exchange from that machine just in case and the problem persists.

I've had a few problems with a domain controller recently too, but DNS lookups on that are working fine and so are directory lookups.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Fixed - Symantec AV Enterprise Edition was causing the problem. I stopped the Symatec AV services, then restarted SMTP and the queues cleared straight away.
