What firewalling, including hidden components found in some anti virus suites, are installed on this machine?

What streaming file format is being used by the site you are surfing, are they the same sites that you have previously used WMP on?.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

HOW TO: Verify Unsigned Device Drivers in Windows XP

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

Try making sure that the settings are correct in MP.

Open Media Player > Press the Alt Key > Press the T Key > Press the O Key > This should open the options box > Click on the Network Tab > See if you options are the same as the box below.

If they are then try clicking on the "Use Ports" tick box and change the numbers in the box to 80.

If you settings are different let us know what is different.

The settings are same as shown,Changed the port, still no go. I try ed SFC Scannow but it asked for XP CD2,I have Gateway box and it wont accept the Gateway disk, I borrowed a XP OEM disk which would not accept. And I olso cannot do a reinstall with the Gateway disk. I'm starting to get the feeling I'm Screwed .Oldrceme
