Try re-registering the active-x controls for wmp and see if it then works. You can do this from a dos prompt (or the Run box) by typing "regsvr32 MSDXM.OCX" as an Administrator.

Try making sure that the settings are correct in MP.
Open Media Player > Press the Alt Key > Press the T Key > Press the O Key > This should open the options box > Click on the Network Tab > See if you options are the same as the box below.
If they are then try clicking on the "Use Ports" tick box and change the numbers in the box to 80.
If you settings are different let us know what is different.

The settings are same as shown,Changed the port, still no go. I try ed SFC Scannow but it asked for XP CD2,I have Gateway box and it wont accept the Gateway disk, I borrowed a XP OEM disk which would not accept.And I olso cannot do a reinstall with the Gateway disk. I'm starting to get the feeling I'm Screwed .Oldrceme
