WMP 9 refuses to slide the controls out of view when in full screen; thus making the viewable area smaller and the presence of the controls always visible. I don't know how that happened, I wasn't at the computer at the time, I've tried reinstalling WMP 9, but cannot uninstall it nor install a different version.

Any thoughts?

There appears to be a bug in Wmp 9 involving Full Screen and some (not all) systems.

This is the top site for all things involving WMP.

If you have only just installed Wmp 9 maybe System Restore will get you back to version 8.

Doing a re-installation of XP will return Wmp 8 also, as long as it is that version on the XP CD.

You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

I had the same problem I had FRESH UI installed which has a tweak to lock media player in the current skin when the program is run, I you have the program installed select WMP and delete the skin name in there, I hope this solves your problems..
cheers

I actually found out the stick of memory in the machine was bad; don't know if that caused media player to go weird. Since then I've reloaded XP & it's been good so far.
