I run Media Player 7.1 og Win98, and after closing the program it still is on the list in Task Manager. All too often it is "not responding" and causes the system to hang. And by the way, on the task list there are THREE lines with "Rundll32" - shouldn't there be just one??
Any hints?

Go to START-RUN-type in MSCONFIG-hit ENTER-choose STARTUP and have a look at what's checked. You can uncheck most if you wish (not SCANREGISTRY OR SYSTEMTRAY) however I would be inclined to check the applications that you want running (antivirus etc). It's worth checking to see if WMP is listed and checked in your startup list.

If you have Rundll32 thrice in your startup list, one checked the other two not, by removing one from the registry you won't get any in startup.

There is a programme that lets you get rid of one/two of the boxes rather than all. It is a huge TWEAK application, which I think to be totally over the top, however, it does that operation very well.

Error! Keyboard not attached. Press F1 to continue........??????

No, the problem is still there after cleaning up in the startup list in msconfig. After closing WMP, the program reports "not responding" in the tast list, and the system hangs - totally. Has to be rebooted with the big button.

I'm guessing at an UNINSTALL and a reinsntall. Now an uninstall includes letting the programme doing what it does, and then you checking for traces of it and getting rid. That way you reinstall clean. Give it a go. Treat your children well. They get to choose your nursing home!
