media player always connecting to internet!!! 1

Hello there fellow computer troubleshooters, troubled users
& the like. I too have a wmp annoyance. It is as follows:
Upon ANY music file(*.wma / *.wav ...) via wm player, wm player immediately tries to connect to the internet for some strange reason which actually prevents ANY music that's on my HD to load & play.

Was this already asked & answered? if yes, then can anyone please point me to the particular thread that holds the solution to the above problem.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated & tried.

Two quick possibilities, 1) Your MP3/WMA codec has become corrupted and WMP is trying to download it again. You would expect to receive a error message saying that there was an error downloading the codec. 2) You have WMP set to retrieve data for each file you attempt to play, You can disable this by clicking on Tools > Options > Media Library > Untick "Update my music files by retrieving missing media information from the internet".

Hi there, sorry 4 the (1) mnth interval. U were right "on the money" with regards to the corruption & having to d/l again. I'm not really big on playing muzic on the pc so i was sorta baffled.
