OK this may not be the best forum, but I can't find one anywhere.

Does anyone have a clue how to migrate user settings for an installation of MS Media Player 9.x from one PC/OS to another? I've tried moving these directories:

%USER PROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player%USER PROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

That doesn't seem to do it, as the files get re-generated and are coded to the individual user (even if the user profile is re-generated, the individual files get named something unique in these folders and different from their previous iterations). Skins seem to migrate with no problem, but play lists, prefs, etc. do not.

I also didn't see anything obvious in the registry.
Any thoughts?

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very obliged!!

XP has a Files and Settings Transfer Wizard you can use to move between/from XP, 2000, 98, 95. Works really easy and slick. In XP go to the start menu, programs, accessories, system tools, and files and settings transfer should be there. You can go to to get a complete explanation on how to use it.

Thanks...I've used it before many times, just never thought of it, I guess. Definitely worth a shot!

Believe it or not--I tried it, it even had an option for Media Player, which I utilized, and it failed to work.

If anyone has any other ideas or know if this is possible through moving files, export/import, registry settings dumps, etc. I'd be much obliged.

Specifically, I'm having difficulty moving all my radio stations from one installation to the other. The only solution I've found is to do a search for each one and then click "add to my stations", which is about a 20 to 40 second process--multiply by a TON of stations and, well, I think you get the idea.

Thanks.
