Hi,
I have Media Player 6.4 and can't get rid of the files I have opened when I go to File, Open. I click on the down arrow and have loads of files that I have opened, that I do not want anymore. How do I get rid of them? Please help. Thanks

Biffo,
Covering your tracks again ?

This one is more straight forward. Go to Start and type regedit in the run box and hit enter.

When regedit opens, in the left pane, click once on the very top line (my computer). Then click Edit/Find and type recent in the box and hit enter. It will stop at any occurance of the word recent. Each time it finds one press F3 until you get to the files that are listed in your Media Player recent list (then make a note of their path, which will be something like :-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList (this is where it is in WinMe).

When you get to them, click each one ONCE and press delete, then confirm. When you are done, close regedit, and look at Media player. They should be gone.

biffo,

Open Notepad and copy and paste the following between the lines and save the file as delmplayerMRU.inf. Right-click on the file and choose Install.

[DelTemps]

It appears as though nothing happens, but they're gone.

Stupid question. How do I get rid of viewed videos under the File menu in Media Player 7.0? Fiddle about with things, and you've more than likely got the job done.

Thanks Fiddle about with things, and you've more than likely got the job done.

Or you could just open up ten other media files and just don't play them - That'll replace what was on the list.
