running CM3.1, i have noticed error type 1025 coming in quite a bit from my 2 gateway's. per the Avaya manual error type 1025:e. Error Type 1025: Due to high traffic the media gateway socket control process turned off
board and port periodic maintenance. When traffic levels decline periodic maintenance will
be turned on again and the alarm resolved.

can someone explain this more? how do i determine what the socket level is & how do i know if i went over it or that i'm close to it?

Yes, MED-GTWY error 1025, the blurb in the manual is all i can find. nothing can explain it further.

It seems to explain the error. You are over taxing the sockets (resources) during peak traffic times. In order to compensate the machine is turning off some of the background services during peak traffic. Once the traffic reaches an acceptable threshold it turns those services back on.

Socket usage can be measured via some of the C-Lan measurement commands. One of the better ones is "list measurements clan sockets hourly xxxx" I would have to dig up the thresholds but there is of course a finite number of sockets available for use.

thank you very much, if you do find that doc it would be very helpful

I have found the max sockets per C-Lan (799DP) that number is 442. You should be able to get the information on usage from the command I listed above in your everyday use and go from there.

so what does socket useage = 39.0 mean?

i found it in the reports manual:
Socket
Usage
(Erl)
0-9999.9 The total time, in Erlangs, that is available from sockets on this
C-LAN board. Calculated by: (Total Socket Seconds of
usage)/3600

what have you all done to ensure this error 1025 does not occur?

OK, as it turns out, error code 1025 just means that due to high traffic, the gateway stopped its keep alive messages & put its processing power to handling the traffic. the error 1025 comes in to notify that the keep alive messaging has started again. due to Avaya's infinite wisdom ;) when the alarm gets to the webinterface, the only code that the mib matches on is that the gateway registered. Per Avaya, "just ignore it".
