Well, I bought full version of XP Pro ($300 at Best Buy, ouch!) and was assured that it would do all the Upgrade version would. I wanted to upgrade in a partition where Win2000 Pro was located. I just was never asked to select an upgrade option, despite the docs that indicated I would be able to do so. Now I have Windows (XP) and WinNt (2000) folders. I can boot into either one, but things are already a little odd here and there, and hard drive space is low with both operating systems installed (the partition is designed to hold op systems with apps in another partition).
Please advise on upgrading the Win2000 with XP and retaining all settings for desktop, shortcuts, etc. under these circumstances. Do I need to uninstall XP? Do I need to transfer settings, and is that the same as the upgrade in the end? How? Will that screw 2000? What should I have done to force the full version to do an Upgrade? Thanks in advance for your help!
