Hiya
Having problems installing a flash card reader program.
When I start the installation package, I either get a error then or a couple of mins later- ive een had the dreaded blue screen.
Funny thing is though i have tried installing the same program on Win98 and its fine and it is definate that the softwhere is suitable for ME.
PLease, an any one help me out?
THanks

(the flash card reader is a paralle port type)

You really need to post more information.

What is the error (specifically)?
What does the blue screen say?
What make & model card reader?
What is the name of the software?
What have you already tried?
What was the results after various things that you tried?
What are the hardware specs on your computer?
When you installed this thing on Win98, was it on a different computer (or the same computer, but with 98 instead of ME)?

Without more information, there is not much help to give!! Mudskipper

Hi - thanks for your time:

Specific error is
'Isinst30!
Isinst30 has caused an error in _INS0433_MP
Isinst30 will now close'

Couldn't tell you what the blue screen says (yet!) cos it hasn't happened since.

DataFab MDCF/MDCFE (Pport) is the make and model of reader.

I have got the most recent ME compatible software for it, ran that - that where the errors appear.
I have tried changing Pport settings in Bios (Spp and Epp etc), checked for port conflicts. Nothing helped.

Tried the software on a different Win98 computer and software and reader worked fine!

My spec is 1300mhz - 256 mb sdram.

Thanks so much for your help, I would be so grateful if you could help.
Thanks
Will

I know that this lists windows 98, but still--does it look like it applies?

Got that well - but sadly Im not running MsWheel.exe!
Any other ideas?
Cheers

Try ensuring that NOTHING is running in the background. Use msconfig to get as clean of a boot into windows as possible and then try to install the software.

It really sounds like something running in the background is causing it.... Mudskipper
