My MDBDATA folder has grown too big and is crashing Exchange 2000, as I am running out of disk space.

I have 2257 E0*.log files with a size of 5 meg each lying in here. My first question is can I delete these?

My second question is what kind of maintainance should I be doing to avoid this in the future?

Third question is: is a 17G hard drive big enough for exchange?

Thanks for all your time and help.

Best regards,

meekrob

2257? What kind of backups are you running? Exchange aware backups will clean these logs out for you.
17GB isn't much, but if you only have 10 users, it's probably OK. Disks are so cheap though, so why not just get more space?

Well currently the exchange drive get's ghosted once a month, for disaster recovery. There are no traditional backups though, we are waiting for the arrival of a new tape drive.

We can move this disk over to a bigger hard drive...

that would be a good idea, but you could also turn on Circular Logging (as long as you're not doing real backups). This will limit the number of E*.log files to 5 (or 6) at any given time. Once you have your tape unit, turn Circular Logging back off.
