This one is mainly for Denny, but if anyone else can answer it, I'd greatly appreciate it.

How hard is the current version of the MCITP Administrator test? I don't see a whole lot of books out there and I'm wondering if I can get by with just poking around SSMS and using the info I got from the Microsoft "upgrade" courses, which weren't cert courses.

Also, does anyone have any good book recommendations for Cert studies? Honest publications, not "cheat" books.

Thanks,

Assuming you mean the following path:

Exam 70-431,Exam 70-433,Exam 70-444

to become a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (Database Administrator)

i found the following very useful starting point:

its not particular hard exam wise (there are practices with the book)but it is a lot of new stuff to cover.

I took the upgrade exam. It's was fairly tough. It was 70 questions. 35 multiple choice, and 35 senerio based (the new format).

I haven't taken the 443 or 444 exams (since I cound do the upgrade as you can also).

Wow. I thought 443 & 444 were the upgrade exams and to get the MCITP: Admin without the upgrade was 4 or 5 other exams.

When you say upgrade, you're talking the 431, correct?
