Can you still convert MCC's to work with S87XX servers or has Avaya made this option unavailable? I have a branch that is currently a G3r with two MCC's and I would like to make them IP server based. If I take this to Avaya will they come back with a statement that this can't be done because they don't support this? These carriers will run for another 50 years without any issues, it seems a shame to junk them.

If Avaya does come back with that reply, then look to the BP's. From talking with one yesterday the main drawback would be using the MOST tool. I am like you ans think the old refrigerator boxes will be around longer than I am.

We have been working with Avaya direct, but do buy a lot of misc things from a BP. I'll go that route..thanks!

AVAYA does not officialy support the "shelf changout" that is required when converting one of the old Fridges to an IP platform, that is the issue. Also, searching the secondary market, I was unable to locate this particlar "J" shelf (forget the part number at this point).

If you can locate some of the replacment shelves, you can still do the conversion. If not, you can't.

Hint: I think a large nationwide busness partner that starts with C and ends with S has horded a bunch of these, or so I have heard.

I went through this about 1 year ago. If you need the J number let me know and I'll put on my spec's [glasses] and look it up for you.

The process requires the replacement of the existing SPE control carrier(s), usually in the 01A position, with an Expansion Control carrier (J58890F). and a Port carrier in 01B if you have duplicate G3r processors. Avaya no longer sells these carriers but they are available 'refurbished' from Avaya Business Partners. With the addition of the IPSI boards, IP switches, the S8xx0 processors, and the Communications Manager software, you're done. The translations can be recovered using the MOST tool used by the Business Partners.
