Help!!!!

I was resizing my drives primary drive (C:) with Partition magic and in the process, it came back with an error message that said that it "found an error in my MBR, would you like us to fix it?" I said yes... it supposedly fixed it.. but now I can't boot my system up anymore! It goes through the POST but does not go any further.

I forced it to boot from a 98 floppy to see if I can run fdisk on it, fdisk comes back with an error
"No fixed drive present"

Help! How do I get my system to recognize my hard drive again??!! I went through the bios and everything seems to be setup correctly!!!!

Any advise will be cheerlfully appreciated!!

Now that you are getting no fixed disks present, can you boot from the Partition Magic boot disc, and will it see your hard drive still?

If not than you could try and debug your hard as a last resort. View this FAQ for full instructions FAQ602-1569

Thanks!

I'll try this tonight when I get home and see if it will rescue my system for me!

If you're using FAT32 or FAT 16, just boot to a 98 disk and do the fdisk /mbr. If that doesn't work you will need to boot to your partition magic rescue disks and fix it there. (i sure hope everyone makes those PM rescue disks!!)

thanks for all your help and suggestions... I finally got my system to recognise my hard drive by using the Data Lifeguard tools from WEstern Digital ( I have a WD400 drive ).

Unfortunately it reformated my drive because it wouldn't work with NTFS. That was the only bummer.

Anywho, thanks again!
