MBG, can't configure private IP address as "WAN" address

It doesn't appear that Mitel intends for you to use two network adapters both with private IP addresses (local LAN, and DMZ). I've seen this configuration with other vendor products, and thought you could do the same with the MBG. LAN side reaches voice network, DMZ side is locked down with very specific firewall rules, and the public address on the firewall is NAT'd to this private IP address.

But the server installation screen (console from vSphere) won't let you configure a private IP address on the "WAN" side interface (or the second interface on the virtual machine).

Am I missing something here?

Mitel doesn't "support" bridging networks in this manner, but I've never had an issue setting it up this way in the past.

Best practices is to put the MBG in your DMZ with a LAN NIC and use custom network profile on the set side address for that external NAT that is coming to your DMZ subnet.

That being said, I've never had an issue setting it up like you're trying and it's working at multiple customer sites. One thing to be aware of is that when you add the WAN interface, the gateway IP is your WAN gateway. You no longer have a LAN gateway on your MBG. You can use static routes if you need to send any traffic out the LAN gateway.

Thanks for the info! Yes you're right... I had a co-worker jump on and I'm not sure what the heck was happening, but when I was trying to enter another private IP address in the server configuration it wouldn't take the address... I got it in the right configuration now.
