Maximum PST file size

I have been told that MS Outlook has a maximum file size of 2 Gig
Can someone confirm if this is correct.

Up to XP yes, but Outlook 2003 introduced a new Unicode .PST format that does not suffer from the 2GB
limit. It will handle up to about 20GB I believe, although in theory will actually handle up to 32 Terrabytes, though it's not compatible with older versions of Outlook.

Can anyone please verify this? I just set up Outlook 2003 and cache mode on a mailbox of 1.8G. Got a message saying could not send/recieve, blah, blah, but I have no store limits. Once I delete some of the deleted items all was well, so I suspect 2G limit in ost, but ain't that about the same as a pst?

When you upgrade to Office 2003, it does not automatically upgrade your PST. You must create a new PST using the new format and move all your mail manually by drag and drop or using the archive utility.

Possibly your pst need tidying up (like any database, it can get messey and not remove blank records, etc). Try running the PST repair tool to see if that resolves the issue.
