Does anyone know how many tables access 97 can have open at any given time? and if there is a way to expand that limit? I have a recursive function that keeps crashing because Access cant handle that many open tables.

The maximum is 1024 which includes some system tables, dont think theres any other way to increase the limit.
If you upgrade to Access 2000 the limit to 2048.
If you upgrade to Access 2000 the limit to 2048.
