max_allowed_package

hi all,

does anybody know how to increase the clients
max_allowed_package-value?

The server and the client have got their own
max_allowed_package-value.

You can increase the server-value by editing
the my.cnf file (safe_mysqld looks into that file
on startup...)

But I didn't figure out, where to change the value
of the php-mysql-client, or at least to display it.

This value does not show up in my phpinfo(). I
actually assumed to control the client related value
by editing the php.ini-file. But this doesn't seem
to work.

I really would be glad for a hint
