Max # of files in a directory

running a backup on a filesystem and the backup is coming to stand-still when it hits this one directory. the directory contains 756,456 files. Does anyone know if there a max number of files that NBU can handle?
Master:AIX 5.2, NBU 5.1MP2
Media/Client: Solaris 8, NBU5.1MP2

I recommend consideration of NetBackup option Advance Client w/FlashBackup. See the datasheet below

thanks for the tip - we actually deleted 500,000 files from this directory and the backup is still taking a really long time. We don't have numberous amounts of files in a lot of locations, so I don't think that we will implement FlashBackup for this...I will keep plugging away and see why this backup is taking FOREVER....

Just an option. YMMV

If all these files are not in one dir and spread out through sub-dirs then..

exclude this file system from the main policy, exclude_list.policy.schedule on the client. put only one line in it, the file system in question.

create a new policy just for this file system. in Files put /path/to/dir/*

the * will make it kick off streams for each subdir from dir on out.
