It appears that my new SQL 2000 is having trouble backing up the master and model databases. It has been creating master$4IDR and model$4IDR database files under the default data directory. It does the same type of thing for the transaction logs as well. I have never seen this before and can not find much information on what is causing this. I am running SP3A on SQL 2000.

Are you using Veritas for the backup. Also, do you have a named instance known as 4IDR?

Thanks

J. Kusch

Yes, I am using Veritas v9.1. I did some investigating and determined that this must be related to the veritas remote agent for sql because it is happening on every sql 2000 server that I am backing up.

Figured it was something to that effect.

Thanks
