Can you hide or mask the caller ID from a POTS line using any line in the Outbound Pool. The carrier, in this case is AT&T/SBC. Is there a setting to not either send the caller ID, or outpulse just the main number on all POTS lines used.
I think your suggesting that on every outbound call, we would have to dial 9 *67 then the phone number. That's alright if that's the case, but I didn't know if the PBX had one specific setting "to not pass" caller ID. I might be able to play with the routing patterns to interject the *67 after the 9 for an outside line.
I thought per-call blocking and 'permanant' blocking were features required by the FCC. And I'm pretty sure they can do it on business lines, too. The police auxilary fundraising calls to my house show up as 'private name/private number'. Did the *67 in routing work?
The carrier in this case is AT&T/SBC. Unless someone knows different, they don't offer permenant blocking on a simple POTS line attached to a trunk in the Nortel. That's why I was going after the *67 angle, only trying to make it outpulse everytime someone wants to make an outside call.
I'll be at the site with the problem later in the week and try a few of these suggestions. Thanks for everyone's help.
I'll let you know what worked best.
Radio Shack used to sell a unit (#43-925) that you put between the phone and the pots line that would block caller ID. I dunno if they still sell it or not...
It would require adding some phone jacks to the hook-up (unless you already are plugging the system into jacks), but if they still sell it, you'll be golden!
byspy11 the CO is correct in a way, they can not (will not) block the caller id on the lines by themselves. But you can send them a flag (*67) on each call and they will not send your information on.
If the AT&T/SBC is the ILEC, then you have to call the business office to place an order for Caller ID Complete Blocking! At least it is available in California and Nevada for any line quantity business or residence.....
If youre using Line Pool there, instead of programming LINE buttons on the phone (Feature 649) replace that button with an external speeddial that picks a line from the pool and dials *67. (and label it the LINE OUT button)
