Mark,

I am looking to pick your brains if possible mate.

You helped me immensly the last time i needed your help so thought i would ask.

Do you know of any software that will look at the directory structure on my server where all the data is held and print out a document like a visio map off all folders and sub folders?

I look forward to your response.

Go to the toplevel of the folder and enter

Code:
tree /A > tree.txt

It's basic but it will do what you want. You get something like the following:

[tt]
Folder PATH listing
Volume serial number is 00009A1A 6326:BA6B
C:.
+---adminpack
+---analog 6.0
| +---docs
| +---examples
| | \---css
| | \---jreeves
| +---how-to
| | +---anrmwin
| | +---batch
| | +---iis
| | +---logrotat
| | +---startwin
| | \---vhosts1
| +---images
| \---lang
[/tt]

Now, if you want prettier output the leave off the /A switch. This will print extended characters. You can then insert this file into MS-Word and get a pretty tree. Make sure you insert it using MS-DOS encoding or the characters get screwed up - my Word 2003 thought they were Japanese!

question time again Mark!!!!!!

I know you love it really.

Any ideas on how to migrate two partitions together in a live situation.

3x RAID 5 36Gb scsi disks
drive e: data
drive f: junk data (archivable)

drive e running out of space and drive f has a 30Gb partition, any easy way to merge that partitions without having to move the e drive data to another server/backup.

cheers in advance
