We have a small office network of around 8 computers, and on one of these is a database backend that is used by a front end program on the other seven. the file folder containing the backend is drive mapped on the other computers. This is working most of the time; however at least one of the computers will not restore the drive map connection and I get The following error: "No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept." Upon researching the issue on MS, I found that there was a supposed fix implemented in SP2; however, the only computers that are having problems are
all running xp SP2; the ones running ME are not having a problem. Anybody out there have any ideas?

The simplest solution is the best!

Here is a list of all hotfixes that represent Service Pack 2. I do not see anything related to the management of client-side or server-side connections:
If you are using Fast User Switching, you can easily exceed the 10 user connection limit. A switched user maintains the connection for at least 15 minutes.

At the "Server", right-click My Computer, Manage, and expand System Tools, Shared Folders.

For the moment watch the Sessions folder. It will enumerate any open sessions. This should let you identify where the problem lies. You can also close an open session but use this carefully to avoid data loss.

In the Logoff script for each user, add a reference to the Net Session command:

Net session \\your_server_name /delete

This will close active sessions at logoff immediately.
