Map w/o client?

Is there a way to map a drive to a NW 5.1 server on an XP Pro workstation without loading a Novell client on the PC?

NO not really

unless you load some of the i family (think you can do it on 5.1 but not sure)

the client is better option

why buy a ferrari and shove a hillman imp engine in it

i mean like ifolder , iprint and nfap etc
mainly 6 things but i beleive you can add to 5.1

client is best way

If you have Client Services for NetWare, you canuse the NET USE command but I think you need the Bindery context set on the server and also a R/W replica on the server also to enable the Bindery connection
