We use several map network drives at work and i have just completed a format & re-install of a pc just to see that everytime i click on a map network drive on My Computer it brings up an empty notepad window.Only happens to certain network drives.

Those entries not in registry. Dont get the notepad problem anymore but the following error comes up:

Entertainment Pack Minesweeper Game has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Cant open the drives and scan drives for virusses and malware etc.

Sounds like you may have some file corruption problem or something. Could be a failing hard drive or RAM, or could just be a fluke, I suppose. Can you try a repair reinstall of Windows? It sounds like more is going on than just one problem... it's just showing in different places.

I have just completed a format & re-install of the hardware.
Everything else works fine.

Well, there are a few different paths you could start down to test it...

1. Try a Live Distro of Linux - do you have any issues there? If so, it's hardware, not software... unless you can narrow down said issues to drivers - usually only driver issues there will be the display adapter (maybe) or a network/wireless adapter.

2. Download Ultimate Boot CD, or individual tests, and test your RAM and Hard Drive to be sure - even brand new ones can be bad or go bad in an instant.

3. See what is going on in your system:
- What is showing in your event logs
- Download a more advanced process viewer, such as this one: or any others listed in the forum thread, thread779-1586273.
- Run some various virus scans if all else fails.. or take a look at your installed software - if you start in Safe Mode, does the problem go away? What AV/Security software/suite do you have installed? Do you have any disk monitoring utilities installed (optical or hard drive).. those can cause issues sometimes.. also any indexing programs could be locking things up...

Anyway, that's where I'd look based on the info you've provided...

What drive letter are these mapped drives using, is it a drive letter that has been used by other USB or external drives?

See if this utility can let you remove and doubled up drive lettering.

USBDeview

Do you have any hidden Autorun.inf file on these drives you are trying to open?

Tried different drive letters same result. Noticed following hidden files on server paths:

autorun.inf
cbuu.exe
ujwk.cmd
esuyae.exe
eoybhu.exe

I'm using SEPM MR4.Could it be virus or spyware related?

[Most of] those filenames certainly look like randomly named malware. Autorun.inf should usually not be in the root of any hard drive, but it is often in the root of CD/DVD's.

Just check and most of our Windows 2003 Servers have a Autorun.inf in root of the shares.

Those autorun.inf files are mostly in some weird language.
Not to sure if i can run these anti spyware/malware on a Windows 2003 server. No it's safe to run on desktop OS like XP.

See what the System requirements are. Operating system: Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/Server 2008/7 are listed for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
