Hello I was wondering if anyone can shed some light. I mapped a drive to a Network server runnning Microsoft 2003 Server. When I hit OK to store the mapped drivve I got a message that tells me

Windows XP Setup:

Please go to the Control Panel and configure system components.

If I go to my computer & click on the mapped drive it gives me the same message. If I Right click & do an open at this point it takes me to the mapped drive location.

Does anyone have any ideas on what its telling me I need to configure in the control panel please?

Linney thanks for the ideas. No there is nothing in the Event viewer & If I disconnect the drive then reconnect it its giving me the same exact message.

Please go to Control Panel & Configure System Components

How is the situation if you run from Safe Mode with Networking on the errant machine? Do other users get the same message in Normal Mode?

Please go to the Control Panel to install and configure system components

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
