J have a large number of file in the directories which make the indexes of my client networker.

I have make a new config client empty and mmrecover to restore and compact files, but they stay in same states . I use also the graphic interface nwadmin , "reclaim space " , but the result is the same number of files.

Here are the actions that j made
cd /nsr/index/paged001/db6
ls -l 565 files
ls -l *.rec | wc
185 files .rec
ls -l *.k* | wc
374 files *.k0 and *.k1

mv /nsr/index/paged001/db6 /nsr/index/paged001/db6.old
nsrck -c paged001
nsrck -L 7 paged001
robot take somes tapes.......
nsrck: /nsr/index/paged001 contains 9141144 record occupying 1302 Mb
nsrck COmpleted checking 1 client
and I retourve me with the same number of files ?????

These directories contain the info about the backed up files (file index). With each save set, you create a set of 3 files:
ssid#.rec
ssid#.k0
ssid#k1

So you have 185 backed up save sets for this client.

Reclaim space does not work - it is not necessary for NW 6+ servers. If you want to empty the client index, you must remove the volumes.

You may delete the file index and start all over. If you need the old stuff, NW can still rebuild it.

So it 's normal.
because for some client I have 12716 files
with 4058 files *.rec and 8116 files k0 and k1

my serveur and clients are in NETWORKER 7.2 build 494 and
my users complain about big slowness when they want to choose files with nwrecover.

Do you recognize that due to the structure the number of *.k? files is exactly double of the *.rec files?

The number of files in the CFI (client file index) does not matter, although in NW 7.3 subdirectories have been introduced. NW now takes the first 4 digits of the file name and create a subdirectory. So if you have index files in NW 7.2 with the filename 1234abcd.*, then the NW 7.3 structure will read
../1234000/1234abcd.*

However, what really makes browing slow is if you open a directory with (ten- or hundred-)thousands of files. Check whether this is the case.
