For security, when people move away from their screens with confidential info on the screen (ie to go get a coffee) I would like them to be able to turn the screensaver on with a mouse click (as the screen savers lock the pc they need to enter passwords when they get back)

I dont want a screensaver that comes on after 5 mins because that interferes with work.

I seem to remember that the old Office toolbar on office 97 gave you that option, but I cant find this facility in XP pro or office 2003.

Anyone know how to do it

What about locking the screen with Windows Key + L ?

You could make a shortcut (for the Desktop) to any of the Screensavers in the System32 folder, but I am not sure whether you can get the "On Resume" to actually bring up the Password box if you manually start a screensaver.

If you want a shortcut to linneys suggestion of locking the Workstation then:

Create a New Shortcut on the Desktop enter "%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation" (without the quotes) as the program, then enter a meaningful name into the Shortcut Name box.

Double clicking on this locks the workstation.
