I don't have time to explain all the errors, but it's bad.. I need to get Active Directory OFF of my windows 2000 sp4 server, now. DCPROMO comes up with too many damn errors and it's driving my nuts.

Does anyone know how the heck I can do this?!?!

I'm in the same boat, I need to do this on a subdomain, where the root domain AD server has crashed..

/forceremoval doesn't work...

How about this- We are trying to remove AD as well, but when it prompts us for the password "Specify an administrator password" in the DCPROMO Wizard, we don't have a record of it. This server was built over 3 years ago, and we don't know what the password is...and it is not the same as the network password, that didn't work...Would that FORCE switch work in our situation?

Any thoughts? Thanks.

When it asks you to specify a password, it is asking you to set the local administrator password, since the machine will no longer be a domain controller.

You can set it to whatever you want.
