Making auto-number add 1 for each record added

Hello,

I have made a web page that uses cold fusion to add information to a access database. Everything works as far as inputing the data, but I am trying to make it so that the auto-number adds one everytime a new record is added. Any information is helpful, thank you

as I understand it, access should do it automatically if you specify the field as an autonumber field.
