I have written a query that i have been using for the previous 9 months. This query simply merged 12 tables into a single tables. Each table represents a month, containing airquality data recorded for every hour of the day for that given month. The total number of records for all the table comes to 29,394 records. Not an excessive amount.

Anyway today i came to run the query , including records for the first three weeks of June, another 504 records. However on running the query the following error has occurred: Microfoft Access System resource Exceeded.

I am using Microsoft Access 2002 through Office XP, using a 1.60GHz 1gbRam computer.

Does anyone know how to resolve this error.

How big is the mdb file?
Have you been compacting the database regularly? If not then take a backup first and then compact. If it's large 500mb+ then this could take an hour or so.

Tried compacting the database, no difference is made. The mdb is only 27mb.

As for the number of columns there are four.

You may need to close all files and reboot your computer.

Already done that, likewise ive increased the size of the virtual memory.

Ive read something about access chewing up all the ram in access 200 and having to install a patch or update. Does anyone know if this is true of the 2002 version

There is no such issue in A2002 or in any previous version of Access.

Try creating a new databse and then use File>GetexternalData>Import to import everything from the current database. See if that resolves the issue.

Lupins46 is on to something. Many times Access will get corrupted. Then that is the only thing you can do.
