Hi all,

Can anyone help. I'm using a make table query to produce a table but I need one of the filed to initally have a null value (easily done by using 'startTime: null' in the field but I would like to make this lookup values ie using a combobox type selector, in another table .

can anyone advise?

Hi dhookom

The table created requires a start field which may need to be altered after being created. the user needs to choose from a predefined list of times ie 09:00, 09:30, 10:00 ect

The over all reason for making the table is to pair up students for EXAM video recording in four rooms at particular times throughout the day. The table will be used to print the pairs names onto DVDs. Three pairs per DVD.

the original student table has students paired by a pair field a once of the pairs has a lookup time field.

So far I have made queries to create a new table with fields for one student, a null student, time (not lookup) a pair number and student number.
the second query then matches the second student by the pair number and put their name in the null second student field making the pair appear as one record not two separate ones (making it easier when I print the pairs on the DVDs)

I thought about using this new table in a form and using the form to lookup the times. I may still go this way.

Another problem has occurred to me... how do I use only three named pairs per report page? maybe I should create a new table with three paired names and times per record. What do you think?

I would always use a form with a combo box for data entry.

Regarding the report, you can set top and bottom margins as well as section heights to limit the number of records displayed per page.

Thanks Duane,

Just wanted to confirm I wasn't doing anything stupid trying to create a lookup field.
