Major boot problem

my workstation started freezing. This is a dula boot and dual disc system.
When I try to reboot the first boot screen is OK.
The second bios boot screen is the one with the menue for the recovery console and the 2 options of which version to boot into.
When this crash occurs this second boot screen has some scrambled letters!

I have reflashed the bios but this is still occuring.

Sometimes if I leave the PC of for some time it will be OK and I can boot into windows OK but then after varying amounts of time will freeze again.

Any ideas before I have to junk the system?

Are you saying that it crashes as soon as the 2nd boot screen is displayed, or when it's booting after you have selected the O/S?
And are you saying that it also freezes after it boots successfully, and has been running for varying periods of time?

If it has booted ok it crashes ater varying periods.

Then when I reboot the second boot screen has garbled text.

If I continue from this garbled menue it just freezes before going into windows.

You don't mention which two OSes you are using...if one is Vista, then EasyBCD will solve the issue:

I also have a dual-boot PC, with the OSes on two HDDs. I avoid the boot.ini problems by using the F8 BBS popup feature of my mainboard. I simply boot directly to the HDD I want to work with.

in my opinion, it sounds like more of a power issue here...

or a failing HDD...

please list the specs of your PC, include every little detail that is possible, such as the wattage of the PSU, what GFX card(S) are installed, etc... the more info we have, the better the diagnostic will be in the end...
