Can you purchase maintenance rights for a switch without purchasing maintenance?

My point was that even the OS that you are using from MS is not yours. All we paid for is the license, but MS has made it easy for all to build on their products. This has made them number one in their industry. What upsets me most is that Avaya is in constant battle with customers for absolutely no reason. I don't care how much something cost to activate...as long as I know I will get good customer service or not be bullied with gestapo tactics. What makes it even worse is the half hearted attempt to mend the relationships with customers.

In the future everything will work...

If you want to try to change Avayas' attitude, write to them using

And complain to them about the slowness of the Avaya website and the difficulty of finding information. Complain of Avaya forcing maintenance on companies to get maintenance rights. Complain about the bad service that you are getting.
Don't bother complaining to bottom and midlevel management. They are micro managed to the point that they have little or no power.

Knowing two BP owners pretty well, and speaking with them about these and other issues Avaya's management(at the VP level) are well aware of these issues. However some is this embedded in more than a few senior & exec VPs.
They feel the heat from Cisco breathing down their necks, as well as now knowing they have moved into the server arena where other vendors have an advantage. Combine that with they have an serive department, meaning tech, where as much as 40% are behind the data/voice convergence. Say nothing about VOIP1

Does anyone know if there is a document with Avaya's maintenance multipliers, i.e., full coverage 24x7 = $x.xx; full coverage 8x5 = $x.xx; remote only = $x.xx, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Jim those numbers move based on the customer. If the size of the customer dictates it they can often work terms that are not in print.

I am sure there is some base number out there however my organization pays considerably less per port based on our contract negotiations then many/most.

As with most things Avaya if you pay list you are being robbed.
