we are about to renew our maintenance contract that covers the 3 Option 11's and an option 61 (with OTM). The current contract we have covers 24x7 monitoring, managment and support.

I would appreciate any input on experience other thave out there on contracts of this kind as well as typical cost.

Thanks

Bid it out to several reputal Nortel dealers and see who comes up best. Let each one know your are soliciting competitive bids but do not share pricing info with any of them. Make sure the type of support you are looking for is identified within your RFP.

If you have you own technical talent and feel up to providing your own support or limited support you can either change to a T&M contract or a contract that covers the switch but not the phones themselves. Most vendors offer both. In my experience, if you go with T&M only, the vendor will assign you a lower priority.

If you haven't already done it, go through your switch and make sure that you out any unused ports.

Phones, trunks, etc.

I don't if they all do it, but several companies I worked for based there maintenance cost on a price per "active" port.

A lot of companies paid a lot of extra money for ports they weren't using.
