Anyone know why the PIX filters for example
HELO microsoft.com and gives the response Command not recognized?

If i type only HELO and continue then it works great.

I have some users that when they are e-mailing us they issue a HELO microsoft.com command and this doesnt work.

Read this to get a little understanding on SMTP. Basically I'm thinking your mailserver is not a spam relay ;)

If your just having issues with email going through your PIX then make sure that your statics and acl's are correct. If your using Exchange you may need to do
no fixup protocol smtp.

I can give more information too but I don't want to go down the wrong path so I will wait on your reply.

Thanks for your reply.

My server is not open for relaying. Only people from my internal network can send mails through it.

I'm using Exchange 5.5 SP4. Correct me if i'm wrong: if i use NO FIXUP PROTOCOL SMTP then the MAILGUARD feature will be disabled, right?

The funny thing is that only people from another country reported problems sending e-mails to us.

Does this give you any more ideas?

Yes, that is the point, really ;) I went through the same thing.

Check this previous post:
thread35-258524

I have 27 exchange servers across a private WAN and 2 PIX servers (stateful failover) with 6 interfaces each. So far this works. You will be fine if you set up your access-lists, statics and exchange server correctly.

There are lots of threads in this forum about mailguard issues (fixup proto smtp)

Good luck.
