Hi All

As per you now don't need exmerge to move mailbox data from the RSG to the mailbox.

But the example given there puts the data back into the live user's mailbox. I'm scared of duplicates. Is there any way without using exmerge to put the data into a dummy mailbox or pst it?

If you follow the article you referenced, you can choose to do a Copy, which puts all the mail in a special "recovered items" folder, from which it can be dumped into a .pst when the mailbox is accessed by an Outlook client. It's simple.

The other ways are very round-about.

Restoring a full copy of the server.

Exporting all existing mail to a .pst, then restoring from the RSG, then exporting all that to a .pst then importing the original data back out of a .pst, all using an Outlook client.

Exmerge is really the best tool. What's your reservation about using it?
