what is the difference in a mailbox in Private information store and on in the default recipients folder ?

why do only the private info ones work with smtp, and most important... how did I get a mailbox INTO the private store mailbox resource list... I can't for the life of me figure it out....

thanks :)

ok... update....
private store is after a message comes in.... got it...
so now....

I have account A and B...
A is in store, but no mailbox, and works perfect
B is a mailbox, is in store (with one msg) but cant log into B....
all have same account permissions

ok... update two....

the logging in is my fault... it works with ip addy, so it must be dns.....

what I still don't get is that it appears I have messages that are in a users private store, but the mailbox has been deleted......

although the user can still login......

how can I COMPELELY delete the user mailbox ?

I'm not entirely sure of the problem here so hope I've got the right end of the stick.

If you've deleted a mailbox, but are still finding references to the mailbox in the private information store, then one possibility is because there are deleted messages being saved from the (ex)users deleted items box.

When you delete a mail, and empty the deleted items folder, the e-mail is still held on the server for the time specified in the deleted item retention time of the IS. If you check again once this period of time has passed, you should find the mailbox has been removed from the IS.

Hope this makes sense :)

Kris.

that sounds good....

although the mailbox was recreated, and now has TWO references in the store....

the first (bad) seems to be preventing logging into the good one.....

even changing all the data in the first on (alias, display, nt account etc.) we can't log into the second one
