im using veritas backup 8.0 to backup win2k server and exchange 5.5 server. I thought i'd set the whole thing up correctly with regards to permissions etc but tho i thought i'd managed to attach to the mailboxes, backups are failing because access is denied..
can someone go through from the beginning, setting up a unique mailbox and setting permissions etc..also does it matter on the type of backup eg full, database and logs, normal, reset archive bit??? also would circular logging be having an effect? please help :)

Oh dear.

Read the BE manual - it tells you everything.

Go to the permissions tab of Exch Admin org, site and server. Add into each one the BE Account. Full rights.

Then you won't get access denied.

If you can manage it, do a full backup every night, flush committed logs and disable circular logging.
