I ALSO POSTED THIS IN THE E-MAIL FORUM

First, let me say that prodigy.net is my ISP; I am running Microsoft Outlook 2002; and the Operating System is XP Professional (MCE 2004).

Lately, I occassionally receive E-mail messages as follows:

From: Mail Delivery System (MAILER-DAEMON@aol.com)
Subj: Returned Mail: user unknown

Attached are two files: details.txt and ATT020.txt.

When I edit the second file, it appears that that mail(from my email addresss), sent to someone at aol whom I do not know, is being returned because MAILBOX NOT FOUND unknown user. Yet I sent no such e-mail and there is nothing like it in my Outlook SEND box.

I have the latest NAV and a complete scan reveals no Virus nor Worm. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Take a look at thread1117-811580

That is helpful. Thank you. Is there a way to find the warm infected machine that is sending e-mail using my return address?

I do not know, I haven't seen any mails like this or have read up on the virus(s) that pertaiin to it. You might post that question in that thread.

I have posted it there. Thanks again.

I sent an email to "abuse@yahoo.com" with copies of some of the spoof emails. Haven't heard back, but from all I can gather, there's not much I can do. As suggested on my other thread, just wait it out. Hard to track if the IP address is dynamic. I wouldn't open any files or links, however curious you may be.

I do get my share e-mail from address that I do not recognize, with attachments. As you suggest, I am quick to delete them without opening.

I did receive a virtually useless reply from Yahoo...telling me why email gets bounced, etc. Not much help at all. I think we just have to wait this out. My volume is going down...very few little gems this week.
