A user is leaving the company I work for but and wants their mail redirected to their new email addy. We really don't want to keep an account open on our side that is associated to the employee's old address.

How could we do this redirect without having an account open on our side?

I would simply remind this employee that the system is for work and not personal use and that once they are no longer employed they will no longer have access to your systems going forward.

I suggest deleting the account and if there are any concerns that the work related mail might get lost, then I would suggest adding that user's address to another account as a second SMTP address.

I hope you find this post helpful.

We did come across this sort of requirement. Try using CONTACT. KL

the problem with using a contact is that you loose control over the email. It is addressed to a company address and then you are sending it outside the company and have no way of knowing if action needs to be taken. This could result in lost business or messed up communications with a customer.

If you leave the user intact then you are wasting a user CAL. It is a loose loose situation unless you cut the ties.

I'd export their contacts folder for them, strip out all business contacts so it only contains their personal stuff and then give them that. Let the former employee contact their friends and advise them of the change in address, it is not your job to be their social director.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
