I'm having a problem that has started recently and seems to go away on it's own. At work we run a network of about 40 workstations and we have one fileserver which controls the internal mail service.

Lately everytime I try to check my internal mail in Outlook it brings up an error box stating that the file is in use. What could cause this mail file to stay open? Or is this a problem with having too many workstations on one server?

Actually, it sounds like you might have a problem in your mailbox... Sometimes a corrupt message can clog it up. Are you using Exchange? You could try deleting your profile, or scanning the PST using the inbox repair tool for your personal folders.
