Hi,

I recently deleted a mail enabled public folder without first mail disabling it. Now the SMTP address that was attached to it is stuck in the Global address list. I tried using PFDAVAdmin to restore the public folder, but of course i had to Mail enable it! If i try to associate the same address it tells me the address already exists. I can't do a mailbox cleanup and purge because its not a mailbox. I have found the an object in adsiedit that may help me, but i am worried to delete or modify it without understanding the consequences. This is a live enviroment.

How do i get rid of this SMTP address? Ideas anyone?

We are running a single Exchange 2003 SP2 server on Windows 2003 Standard SP2.

Easiest thing to do is TEST.

Create a dummy folder and mail enable it. verify it was added in ADSIEdit. Delete it the same way as you did. Now delete the entry in ADSIEdit and you should be able ot re-use that address. You will at this point have verified that you found the right location for the key in ADSIEdit and should be able ot safely remove it.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks Mark!

I actually resolved this. I found a Microsoft article about finding an SMTP address by running a search under the address lists in the Exchange console. I never knew you could do that. You learn something new every day...

heh heh

can you post that kb article number. thanks
