Hi,
I'm new to this forum and looking for a bit of advice, I am currently setting up echange5.5 all seems good so far but some of my staff work remotely using laptops, I wanted some tips on what the best option was to enable these users to pickup mail directly through the exchange box? I currently have a vpn client installed on the remote client for accessing the company intranet, I’ve tried the pop3 option and you can send ok but not receive because the users are remote they cannot validate to the NT challenge and response.

yes i am using outlook client accsessing the internal exchange box via vpn connection but on recieving i get asked for nt user and password, the external user is not a member of the nt domain

if the external users are not part of your domain, what mailboxes are they trying to access? Have you given them a user account to log in with? Maybe I'm not following you...I guess you're allowing open relay though...
