Hi folks -
i have a windows 2003 server network (standard edition) with 16 clients and 1 shared printer (connected directly to my server via USB - but server is acting as a print server)....
i am required to connect an iMAC with OS X 10.3.2 installed on it and i would like to know how i would go about adding this to my domain and letting the iMAC client access the network printer also -
how do i configure the driver? since the drivers available are for MAC's not for PC's? (i.e. how can i install a MAC driver on a windows 2003 print server?)????

any help much appreciated - any websites/articles would be great!
thanks all!

First you can go into the MAC network configuration (Apple Icon, System Preferences, Network) and set it up for dhcp or static depeding on what you are using.

Then go into HD, Applications, Utilities, Directory Service and select Active Directory and you can configure your Windows 2003 server settings there.

Once you get that to logon to your network go to Apple Icon, System Preferences, Printer and Fax, Setup Printers, then you should be able to browse the network for you server and select the shared printer, and then select that MAC driver for whatever printer or select generic. Or you can setup IP Printing but then that by passes the printer que.

Another option that we use here is to purchase / trial Admit Mac by Thursby Software.

or
Other information on using the Active Directory built into MAC.
