I am getting bombarded by and External IP trying to get in to my network. I suspect I have a computer with a virus that is trying to get in.

How can I get the MAC address from the IP that is being blocked by my Firebox so that I can try to trace it back to a NIC in my network?

Matt

it would be handy if there was a command line utility, like a sh arp or netstat. yuou are right. i am new to the watchguard world, but have not been able to get this information from the logs either - yet. thanks, jeff

I'm a little confused by the wording, but assuming you're actually looking for a machine sharing a subnet with the Firebox, this will help:

Go into your Firebox Manager and click the "Status Report" tab at the top. Near the bottom of the report you will find an ARP table associating known IPs, MACs, and which interface they were discovered on.

Thanks for the info. Actually, since the info is coming to me from my ISP's gateway, I cannot find the source. I have notified them and they found out who it is and it has now stopped.

Problem resolved, thanks for everyone's help.

Matt
